Indian garden wedding inspiration with a jasmine mandap and candlelit tables

Telugu wedding planners in BangaloreEvery ritual, in order.
Nothing rushed.

A Telugu pelli runs on the muhurtam, not the clock. We plan the whole sequence, from nischitartham to the reception, with the priest, the mandapam items and the family all on one run sheet.

THE RITUAL ORDER

The Telugu wedding rituals we plan, in sequence

Families and priests vary the order; this is the common sequence we build the run sheet around.

  1. Nischitartham (engagement). Exchange of the lagna patrika, betel leaves, fruit and clothes between the families; the wedding date and muhurtam are fixed and read out.
  2. Pellikoothuru and pellikoduku. The bride and groom are anointed with turmeric and oil at their homes a day or two before; music, haldi décor and a family lunch.
  3. Snathakam and kashi yatra. The groom’s thread ceremony and his mock departure to Kashi, stopped by the bride’s brother. Light-hearted, usually on the wedding morning.
  4. Gauri puja and Ganesh puja. The bride prays to Gauri while the groom performs Ganesh puja at the mandapam; the kanyadanam preparations begin.
  5. Kanyadanam and jeelakarra-bellam. The bride’s parents give her hand; at the exact muhurtam the couple place the cumin-jaggery paste on each other’s heads through the curtain (terasala).
  6. Mangalya dharanam. The groom ties the mangalsutram with three knots; the sacred thread, the kankanam and the madhuparkam clothes feature here.
  7. Talambralu. The couple shower each other with turmeric rice, the most photographed and the loudest part of the morning.
  8. Saptapadi, arundhati nakshatram and nagavalli. Seven steps around the homam, sighting the Arundhati star, and the games that follow.
  9. Appagintalu. The bride is formally handed over to the groom’s family; the vidai.
  10. Satyanarayana vratam and reception. Often the next day at the groom’s home, with the reception the same evening at a hall or hotel.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT

Planning a Telugu wedding in Bangalore

Muhurtam-timed run sheets

Telugu muhurtams fall at dawn, late morning or close to midnight. We build the run sheet backwards from the exact minute: priest, mandapam, terasala, photographers and the kitchen all ready 45 minutes before.

Mandapam items and priest coordination

Pelli peetalu, kobbari bondam, the homam set-up, kankanam threads, jeelakarra-bellam, talambralu rice: we prepare the list with your purohit and have it at the venue the evening before.

Andhra and Telangana menus

Pulihora, gongura, pappu, avakai, bobbatlu and gutti vankaya from caterers who cook Telugu food daily, with per-plate counts for each function.

Family logistics

Two families, often one travelling from Hyderabad, Vijayawada or Vizag: stay blocks, transport to the mantapa for a dawn muhurtam, and a hospitality desk.

Décor that fits the ritual

A mandapam with room for the homam and both families, a terasala-ready stage, marigold and banana-leaf entrances, and a reception set the same evening.

Photography that knows the moments

Jeelakarra-bellam, mangalya dharanam and talambralu happen in seconds. Our photographers know the order and where to stand.

WHERE

Venues that suit Telugu weddings

Kalyana mantapas and community halls across Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar and JP Nagar suit traditional morning muhurtams with a homam; hotel banquets in Whitefield, Hebbal and on Old Airport Road suit evening receptions; resorts towards Nandi Hills, Kanakapura Road and Bannerghatta Road suit two-day celebrations with stay. We shortlist two or three for your guest count, visit them with you and handle the venue’s paperwork. See how we work in Jayanagar, Whitefield and Hebbal.

QUESTIONS

Questions couples ask

How much does a Telugu wedding cost in Bangalore?
An intimate Telugu wedding of 50–150 guests at a mantapa starts around ₹3 lakh with BillionEvents (₹2,99,999 + GST), excluding hall rental and per-plate food. Two to three functions for 150–350 guests run ₹7–14 lakh; larger multi-day weddings ₹15 lakh and above.
Do you arrange the purohit and the mandapam items?
Yes. We coordinate with your family purohit or arrange a Telugu-speaking priest, and we prepare the full mandapam list with them: pelli peetalu, kobbari bondam, kankanam, jeelakarra-bellam, talambralu rice, homam materials and madhuparkam.
Can you handle a midnight or dawn muhurtam?
Yes. Late-night and early-morning muhurtams are common in Telugu weddings. We schedule the venue, kitchen, décor team and photographers around the muhurtam and arrange guest transport for the hour.
Do you plan Telugu weddings at venues outside Bangalore?
Yes. Resorts near Nandi Hills and on Kanakapura Road are popular for two-day Telugu weddings with stay; destination weddings start at ₹25 lakh.
Can you combine a Telugu wedding with another tradition?
Yes. We plan inter-community weddings, for example a Telugu muhurtam in the morning and a Christian or Kannada ceremony the same day, with both priests and both ritual sequences on one run sheet.
