How to choose a wedding planner in BangaloreAsk the right questions.
Then trust your answer.

There is no independent ranking of wedding planners in Bangalore, so lists of the “best” are mostly paid placements. This guide gives you the questions, the quote checklist and the red flags that separate a good planner from a good salesperson. We are a planner; use it on us too.

IN BRIEF

Choosing a wedding planner in Bangalore, in brief

Shortlist two or three wedding planners, ask each the same ten questions, and insist on a line-item quote for the same brief. Choose on who runs the day in person, what the fee includes, how they handle the venue’s paperwork and the backup plan, and on references you can call. Price last: the cheapest lump sum is usually the most expensive wedding.

THE INTERVIEW

Ten questions to ask every wedding planner

Ask them in order. The answers tell you more than the portfolio.

  1. Who will be at my wedding on the day, by name? The person selling is not always the person running. Ask to meet the on-ground lead before you sign.
  2. What exactly does your fee include, and what is billed by the venue? Venue rental and per-plate catering are almost always separate. A good planner says so up front.
  3. Can I see a line-item quote for this brief? If the answer is a single number, ask again. See the checklist below for what the quote should contain.
  4. How many weddings do you run on the same weekend? Two is fine with a full team; six with one coordinator is a problem on muhurtam Saturdays.
  5. Which of my functions have you done in my tradition? A Telugu pelli, a Kannada maduve, a Tamil muhurtham and a Christian nuptial mass have different run sheets. Ask for specifics, not reassurance.
  6. What happens if it rains, the power fails or a vendor does not show? Listen for named backups: a second generator, a standby photographer, a covered alternative for an outdoor mandap.
  7. Can you handle the venue’s paperwork? Deposits, police permission for late-night music, sound limits, liquor licence where needed, and GST invoicing.
  8. How do you handle changes after booking? Guest counts move. Ask how additions are priced and when the final count is locked.
  9. Who are two couples I can call? Not testimonials on a website. Phone numbers, with the couples’ permission.
  10. How quickly do you reply, and in writing? Planning runs on WhatsApp. A planner who takes three days to answer a question in October will do the same in the wedding week.

THE QUOTE

What a proper line-item wedding quote contains

Compare three quotes only after each planner has priced the same brief: same date, guest count, functions and venue type.

WALK AWAY IF

Red flags that cost couples the most

A lump-sum quote

A single figure with no breakdown usually hides 20–40% margin on vendors you could price yourself.

“Best in Bangalore” everywhere

Superlatives with no verifiable reviews, no named clients and no named team are marketing, not evidence.

No written contract

Scope, dates, payment schedule and cancellation terms must be on paper before any advance.

Vendors you cannot name

If the planner will not tell you who the photographer or caterer is, you cannot check their work.

Pressure to pay the full advance today

Legitimate availability holds last a few days. Same-day pressure is a sales tactic.

No site visit offered

A planner who has not stood in your venue cannot plan your flow, parking or power.

BEFORE YOU SIGN

Contract checklist

  1. Scope by function Every function listed with what is delivered at each.
  2. Named lead and team size Who runs the day and how many coordinators attend.
  3. Payment schedule Typically 25–30% to book, 40–50% a month before, balance after the event; GST stated.
  4. Change and cancellation terms How guest-count changes are priced; what is refundable, by when.
  5. Vendor liability Who is responsible if a vendor fails, and what the replacement plan is.
  6. Venue coordination Who holds the venue contract, who pays deposits, who handles permissions.

QUESTIONS

Questions couples ask

Who are the best wedding planners in Bangalore?
No independent ranking exists; most “best wedding planners” lists are paid or self-published. Shortlist planners from Google reviews, WedMeGood and referrals, then compare them on the ten questions above and a line-item quote for the same brief. BillionEvents is one option: published packages from ₹2,99,999 + GST, itemised quotes and one named lead per wedding.
How far in advance should I book a wedding planner in Bangalore?
Six to nine months for a peak-season wedding (November–February, April–May) at a popular venue; three to four months is workable for an intimate wedding or an off-peak date. Venues and photographers book out before planners do.
Should I hire a planner or manage the wedding through the venue?
Venues coordinate what happens inside their hall: tables, food, basic stage. A planner owns the whole event across functions, vendors and family logistics. For a single-function wedding at a full-service hotel, the venue team may be enough; for multiple functions or a mantapa venue, a planner usually pays for itself.
Is a planner-only fee or an all-in package better value?
Planner-only (₹1–4 lakh) suits couples who want to pick each vendor themselves. All-in packages suit couples who want one quote, one point of contact and one accountable team. Compare the two on the total, not the planner line.
How do I check a wedding planner’s reviews are real?
Look for reviews on platforms the planner does not control (Google, WedMeGood), check that they mention specific venues and functions, and ask the planner for two couples you can phone.
